New Designs 2011

I haven't added to the blog for a while but I've still been creating designs in my spare time as well juggling my full time role as Costume Assistant :) I have been focusing my new designs on fashion mainly on Adobe Illustrator including creating garment shapes, repeat pattern and creating final visualizations as part as a final collection.

It's been a while...

Wow i can't believe my last post was in last March! I've been a very busy bee the past few months with working as a Costume Assistant (looking after Sharks, Bears + Dodos!) and travelling around Thailand :D. After three weeks in a beautiful environment and plenty of days pondering at the beach, I have now given myself a boost of inspiration + motivation to fulfil my designing hopes and dreams before i settle back into my Costume Role.

Here are a few Card Designs i have produced over the past few months-

New Kidswear Designs 2010

To gain more experience and keep creative on Adobe Illustrator, i have been producing more Kidswear designs/collections. As the majority of my previous Kidswear designs have been focused upon Girlswear, I have aimed to create Kidswear collections for Boyswear and Babywear.

Boyswear-
T-shirts- My main inspiration came from Pirates and what symbolizes Pirates e.g- Parrot, Eye Patch, Skull and Cross bones and Pirate Sayings. Babywear Boys- Pirate Monkey
Following from the Pirate T-shirt i then went onto designing babygros based upon pirates but more simplified for the younger market and adding a Monkey character- Pirate Monkey
.

Babywear Girls- Bees + Flowers- Flowers are great for pattern and feature a lot in fashion prints, To evolve the floral print into Kidswear i have added bees to the flowers and created a co-ordinating Bee style babygro. Rabbit Repeat- With Easter just around the corner i thought i would use one of my previous pattern designs and visualise the design as a babygro which works great!

New Designs- January 2010.

T-shirt design-
I LOVE buttons so wanted to incorporate these into a design- i took photos with my digital SLR and created some buttons on Adobe Photoshop. With this i included one of my favourite quotes/saying "As cute as a button" I think this t-shirt design would be great with added stitch and added buttons :)

Rabbit Design- I have began creating some easter style designs- I have been using Adobe Photoshop alot recently and i am trying to create myself lots of patterns/images which i can incorporate into patterns. This week my focus has been upon cute rabbits :)

Painterly Florals- I have been looking through my previous work this week and came across my university work on flowers. I scanned in my favourite imagery and fiddled with the scales/colours and textures on Adobe Photoshop to create some painterly floral designs.

George @ Asda Work Placement Designs

In November i attended two weeks work placement at George @ Asda.Working at George in the girls and baby design department has given me experience of working in a busy design studio and the design processes of the fashion industry. During my two week work placement I created CAD girls wear designs, created trend forecast reports, attended supplier meetings, Photographed and filed garment samples and general office duties, Giving me an insight of working in the design environment.

My main project during my time there consisted of designing embroidery designs for girls jeans, I created these using Adobe Photoshop and adding them to ph
otographs of jeans to show the design in context.

Sketchy Florals

The new year has certainly boosted my Creativity, I have been producing more designs taken from original hand-drawn drawings and adapting them on Adobe Photoshop to create Repeat Pattern floral designs, which i think would make lovely giftwrap/stationary.

Cute Owls

I've been doing my research and it seems as if owls are a big trend and everywhere in pattern so i thought i would give it a go on Adobe Photoshop and i love my result!!
  • Image 1- College tree from previous work with photoshop owls- Could be good for a card design or as a fashion placement design e.g T-Shirt
  • Image 2- Repeat Owl Pattern cretaed on Adobe Photoshop- Could work well as a repeat fashion/accessories print or as Stationary

New Year = New work!

Happy New Year!
This christmas and the new year has given me a new surge of creativeness :) I have new designs and new ideas and inspiration.

First of all My Grandparents asked me for a piece of artwork for christmas to hang on their wall- for this i wanted to create something new so i handstitched a flowered fabric piece which i then scanned into photoshop and adapted it to create a repeat pattern. With this i then used the repeat pattern as a design for childrenswear- Process shown below-
